Re: Newbie's guide for compiling HoA with Visual studio 2005

Actually I think on Windows the messages that would be printed in Linux on the terminal are redirected to two files: stdout.txt and stderr.txt. Anything in those? Also it looks like you're using Visual Studio 8; I think these instructions were written for Visual Studio 2005, I'm not sure how simila...

Re: Newbie's guide for compiling HoA with Visual studio 2005

read.c is not one of our files... must be from one of the libraries... gettext perhaps? I don't see why that should be a problem though... Yeah, I know. It's VC8 file - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\crt\src\read.c And the problem is not in this file, but somewhere else. Also, see if...

Re: Newbie's guide for compiling HoA with Visual studio 2005

Ok, I've got all linker errors fixed, all missing .dll's found. Now when I'm starting the game - it starts fullscreen app and hangs with black screen - I know there's some exception which caused the application freeze, but I can't even switch to Visual Studio - the only way is to kill the process. I...

Re: Thoughts on party size

No, my multi-character battles idea I had thought of being in real time, not a turn-based system like tactics. Think mouse control + Starcraft strategy and that's closer to what I had envisioned. Of course this is all completely irrelevant to Allacrost and there's no way in hell I'm even remotely s...

Re: Newbie's guide for compiling HoA with Visual studio 2005

Thanks. Now the solution compilation succeeds. Here are the changes being made to the system.cpp: (Line 17): #ifdef _WIN32 #include <direct.h> + #include <stdlib.h> // defines _MAX_PATH constant + #define PATH_MAX _MAX_PATH // redefine _MAX_PATH to be compatible with the Mac's PATH_MAX (Line 189): -...

Re: Newbie's guide for compiling HoA with Visual studio 2005

Ok, I have dowloaded Lua latest stable version 5.1.4. This have fixed the problems with lua. After that I have downloaded gettext 0.14.4 and it fixed the "'bind_textdomain_codeset': identifier not found" error. Still compiler cannot find two id's: PACKAGE and LOCALEDIR. The last one was fo...

Re: Newbie's guide for compiling HoA with Visual studio 2005

Hi, I've got through the "step-by-step guide" and had some problems compiling the solution. I'll post the compiler errors and possible reasons: 1>.\src\modes\boot\boot.cpp(28) : fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'save_mode.h': No such file or directory Adding $(ProjectDir)\src\m...
