Re: Subversion Commit Log

The reason it was in UpdateTargetSelection is because if we wait until the script is run, then if we have one potion left and someone's turn immediately follows his, then they can use the potion too because it's still in the inventory. I wrote all this crap down in the code comments.

Maybe I did. My memory has failed me again.

Just so long as he doesn't break existing functionality like some people before him did, I'm fine with that.

- rujasu: implementing full scripting support for skills and items (animation + synched audio) in the Lua code That's not going to be much Lua. All the Lua should do is tell the C++ "Play this animation." Since the C++ progresses the animation, it's going to need to handle the synchronization of au...

I disagree. I think the thread should stay the way it is. People always make posts in this thread regarding changed files and fixes, but don't always submit a commit log through the SVN client. That plus you're now asking us to check for changes here and changed files somewhere else. Why do two loca...

Although I recommend that you do it by passing in the party instead of looping and calling the script function for every actor. Why you ask? Well, the skill or item is very likely to play a sound when it is used. And if you have 5 enemies you are using an attack skill against, you're going to hear ...

Why would I do what? Create a party object. How exactly do you reason that the existing code worked "perfectly fine for parties"? Well if you had actually looked at the body of the code instead of just the header, you would've seen that the existing code found out who the single selected target was...

Why would you do that? The existing execute code worked perfectly fine for parties and didn't requrie any extra classes to be implemented. What you have written just requires more stuff to be implemented and bound to Lua. Plus we have to decrement the item beforehand in battle mode for reasons I exp...

New Tool Idea

We all know that balancing the game is going to be a long and painful process, and so I thin it might be useful to have a tool that assists us with that, as well as debugging. What I'm proposing is a tool that works off of Qt (since we already use it), and it essentially is run as part of the game. ...

If you win the battle you need also to press a lot of keys: f (open stats screen) f (start xp distribution) (optional) f (fasten xp distribution) f (open skills learned) f (open items found) f (start drunes distribution) (optional) f (fasten distribution) f (return to map) That is too much again an...

There's nothing fun about fighting battles that you know you can't lose unless you do something idiotic like attacking your own characters Which is why you move on further in the game to fight tougher monsters. The whole reason I proposed the enemy level growth feature in the first place was mostly...

Well, I don't check Ohloh or CIA, so this thread is useful to me. I may not always have any of the above options available to me (might be using a public computer to check up on things, and I'm not in the IRC 24/7), whereas to check this thread all I need is internet and a browser. I never really th...

FF8, and man I hated it. Probably because it was the only minigame in that stupid game.

I vote for a Golden Saucer.

As long as we take the time to develop a fully-featured battle arena (something every RPG should have), I'm happy.

2) Curious by what you mean here. What is an "event"? Map mode already has its own event system where on every update call Then we may need to piggyback off of that and generalize it more so other modes can use it, and so that non-mode related code can use it as well (i.e. having an event system in...
