Maybe they need a bit more work on them...

And I think that there is another wall shield in imperial era (but it really looks like the other one).

Of the ones in the imperial era, these are the ones closest to the same style as the others.

Very interesting. I'll get around to doing edits of these, hopefully tonight.

Fmuñoz: Those two icons of yours are very good, and look professional as they are.

You're right though, that a few improvements could be made (and here it helps to have two brains working on the subject - I suffer from the same thing when I'm working on something solo). For the necklace, the only change I would make would be to make the string much more visible.

For the Kantele, it's much more difficult. It might almost help to zoom in on the thing, but on the other hand that would make it less clear what the shape of the whole thing is; and this is not exactly a familiar object. Making the strings visible and changing the colors ever so slightly might be good.

Once we make the move to supporting multiple images stored in a single file, it should make management of these icons much easier. By the way, why the change on the sheild? I undrestand how the armor and the greaves are improved, but the green streak across the shield and the claw marks make it a little overembellished IMHO. The initial set of equipment is typically plain and common-place, so I thought that sheild fit perfectly.

I already have all of these as single files, fwiw. Those are how I work with them - doing a whole block of these at once would be weird.

Because ... I did. I've removed those extra embellishments, by and large, for the version you see below:

{Side note - yes, I know the strings on the kantele aren't straight - fix coming later}

Jetryl on Wesnoth forums wrote:Cool. Hey, you know what?

Post every icon you've made over there, and I'll edit them into awesomeosity. Key?

Especially on something like this, you'd stand to learn more when you see something you created yourself get directly edited, rather than anyone else's work.

I didn't actually mean the icons, I meant the dragon (see non allacrost art topic), but I have made some other icons which I could probably give to allacrost anyway (made them for a guy whose project seems to have crashed which means I never got paid  , but I'll get over it, and you guys can use them instead, if he resurects it I can always make some new ones as he probably wont want GPL).

anyway, here they are, they are bigger than the wesnoth ones, 100x100 including the boarder, but they can be re-sized. Also I am aware that some of them are (amulet and cloak being the worst, although I can probably fix them up, and the ring, shield and gloves being the best)

Jody: icons are 60x60 and they should be in the same format as the ones that Jetryl posted above. (Same amount of transparency on icon edges, same border). We don't want to have a bunch of inconsistent looking icons now do we? :) We could use more armor icons if icons are what you wish to work on. I'm not really sure what that defence tab is intended to be used for.

Hey, if you want to work on this game, what would be totally useful would be tile art. Even if it's not really good, just having it in an "acceptable" state would really help us out, because we can edit it later. :approve: We need tiles for town buildings, and for indoors.

Fmunoz, and I pretty much have these armor icons under control - they and basically all interface icons are being done in a painterly style, not unlike Warcraft's.

(P.S. - props on the sig. Lee's one of my favorite characters. ;) )

Almost no updates/changes, except for a new potion icon:

Cleaned the Kantele icon by quite a bit - I'm ashamed at how bad the previous "improvement" was, fortunately that now seems to be off the 'net.

I've now made a full set of four _green_ potion icons, and there will be more, in other colors, to come. I'm planning on pairing these with small, animated (bubbling) sprite images of each class - my hope is that these large, painterly icons will be used in all menus - including the menu where the current "red potion sprite" is used. Meanwhile, the sprites will be used on the map as acquireable items. So long as we limit it to about one sprite per each major class of item (sometimes splitting major classes like swords), it should be trivial for me to make sprites for all the items in the game.

The idea is that we have four magnitudes of potion, just like we have four magnitudes of status FX. Green is meant to be "healing", the light-blue potion a Skill-Point recharger; more musing on the subject can be seen here:

The one on the far right appears to have eyes and a mouth. Are those supposed to be bubbles?

Yes, they're supposed to be bubbles. I tweaked it to get rid of that.

Anyways, here are 3 out of what would finally be 4 red potion icons:
